Upcoming Releases

Stardust Overdrive Special Edition

Stardust Overdrive Special Edition combines 3 packs of the latest booster, Stardust Overdrive, with 1 of 2 powerful and highly sought-after cards: “Charge of the Light Brigade” or “Tempest Magician”!

“Charge of the Light Brigade”: Originally released as a TCG World Premiere card in The Duelist Genesis, this card is a cornerstone of the Lightsworn Deck.

“Tempest Magician”: This powerful Synchro Monster first appeared in Crossroads of Chaos and has the ability to use Spell Counters to inflict damage directly to your opponent.

Both “Charge of the Light Brigade” and “Tempest Magician” have previously been available only as hard-to-find Secret Rare cards. Now, Duelists everywhere can get their hands on these cards, with Stardust Overdrive Special Edition.

Wow guys. Charge of the Light Brigade and Tempest Magician. I gotta tell ya, I feel for players who spend their hard earned cash from working on these cards, they have got to be hurting. First with Gladiator Beast Heraklinos in "The Duelist Genesis Special Edition" back when Gladiator Beasts were the big thing. Il Blud, another major Secret Rare was also reprinted, and its value took a big hit. Major playable cards that have seen play however in the past year or so that have been reprinted in these special editions would be Necroface, Goblin Zombie, Allure of Darkness and The Dark Creator. Necroface was used as tech in some decks for returning Malicious from their remove from play back to the deck so they could reuse it, some still use this card for very similar reasons. Goblin Zombie is another popular card now that Mezuki has gone to 2 now instead of 1, and while we have yet to see how Zombies will play out in this current format, at least they have more support now. Allure of Darkness, who doesn't use this in any DARK based deck? I dont really need to explain Allure do I? The Dark Creator doesn't see too much play except in Hopeless Dragon really. We'll come back to Hopeless Dragon in a bit too.

Charge of the Light Brigade

Normal Spell Card

Send the top 3 cards of your Deck to the Graveyard. Add 1 Level 4 or lower "Lightsworn" monster from your Deck to your hand.

This will be one reprint we're all looking forward to. Who wouldn't like to have a currently $55-60 card in a cheaper yet still foil version? If you're a "budget" player, you gotta be feeling good right now. I tell ya, being one of those "Good Trader/Budget Player" type of guys, I am very happy about this. I dont have the cards to get Charges right now since their price is a little overboard, in fact this card shouldn't have ever been a secret rare. I guess UDE should've made Reinforcement of the Army, E-Emergency Call, Gladiator Proving Ground and hell, even Terraforming all secret rares. Gladiator Proving Ground more so than the others, except Reinforcement of the Army. Only because Gladiators were basically the equivalent to what Lightsworns are now, and seeing as how Charge is the same as Proving Ground basically, well you see what im getting at. I think everyone will welcome this reprint and a lot of new decks may spring up and take the scene. Congrats on a good choice Konami!

Tempest Magician
DARK
******
[Spellcaster / Synchro / Effect]
ATK/ 2200 DEF/ 1400
1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner Spellcaster-Type monsters
When this card is Synchro Summoned, place 1 Spell Counter on it. Once per turn, you can discard any number of cards to place 1 Spell Counter on a monster(s) you control for each card you discarded. You can remove all Spell Counters on the field to inflict 500 damage to your opponent for each removed Spell Counter.

Tempest Magician is going to be another welcomed reprint, and a reprint that makes a lot of sense when you think about it. Stardust Overdrive consists of new Spellcaster support which if memory serves also work with Spell Counters. Now im not entirely sure if people will really use this card, in fact it already has an inflated value that isn't even worth it since not many people use the card as it is. Sure it's not completely useful this format or even last format, but it is a card that people wouldn't mind adding to their collection so this is another good choice for a special edition. Even though there was more for Charge for me to say, I cant really say much for this card since I dont really care for it.

Twilight Edition

Combining the best of the game's LIGHT and DARK monsters, the Twilight Edition allows all fans of the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's TRADING CARD GAME to have easy access to “Honest” – one of the most recent powerful cards!

In addition to the 1 “Honest” card included with every Twilight Edition, Duelists also get 3 packs showcasing some of the best LIGHT and DARK monsters from the last 2 years. Twilight Edition brings together in 1 package what many Duelists have already figured out on their own — that combining LIGHT and DARK together can build one of the strongest Decks that exist!

Twilight Edition contents:

  • 1 Ultra-Rare variant "Honest"
  • 1 pack of Light of Destruction
  • 1 pack of Phantom Darkness
  • 1 pack of Tactical Evolution
Well would you look at this, Lightsworns get even cheaper. I dont really need to put up Honests effect and stats do I? Any player with half a brain should know what this card does and I dont think I have to go into detail on this reprint. 2 good booster sets with a rather random set I guess. Imagine, pulling a second Honest or a Judgment Dragon with a Dark Armed Dragon. Well, no one is that lucky but still. Being able to get 2 really good sets in one, especially since Phantom Darkness can only be obtained in certain collector tins now and its the only other way of getting Dark Armed Dragon and you can get other good cards from it too.

Ancient Prophecy Special Edition

Ancient Prophecy Special Edition gives Duelists another chance to get all their favorite cards from the latest Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s TRADING CARD GAME booster release! Each Special Edition box comes with three packs of Ancient Prophecy and 1 of 2 Super Rare variant cards: “Solar Recharge” or “Red-Eyes Wyvern.

“Solar Recharge”: Previously released only as an Ultra Rare in Light of Destruction, this card is critical to the popular Lightsworn Deck archetype.

“Red-Eyes Wyvern”: Available for the first time ever in North America, this Dragon is a vital combo card for any modern Dragon Deck.

Solar Recharge
Normal Spell Card
Discard 1 "Lightsworn" monster. Draw 2 cards, then send the top 2 cards of your Deck to the Graveyard.

First reprint from this Special Edition. Since Ancient Prophecy Special Edition is coming out before the Stardust Overdrive one, this means Lightsworn players will get their draw card first, and unfortunately have to wait 2 months. I dont really need to explain this card at all either. But budget Lightsworn decks have become a reality, im happy because I had all my Lightsworn cards(minus Honest, Charge and Judgment Dragon) but couldn't run it at a competitive level really. Lightsworn players, Konami seems to really like you.

Red-Eyes Wyvern
WIND
****
[Dragon / Effect]
ATK/ 1800 DEF/ 1600
During your End Phase, if you did not Normal Summon or Set a monster this turn, you can remove from play this card from your Graveyard to Special Summon 1 "Red-Eyes" monster from your Graveyard, except "Red-Eyes B. Chick".

This is where I get back to the whole Hopeless Dragon thing, Red-Eyes Wyvern is the second card in the upcoming special edition and if you read its effect you can see how it fits in Hopeless Dragon. Solid stats, decent effect, just isn't a DARK monster. But thats not what really matters, least not entirely. This card has so far only been printed once in Europe and Australia or something, not sure and too lazy to look, but now it has an easy and cheap reprint for all you Hopeless Dragon fans and players out there, Konami is on a ball. Just dont fuck it up Konami!

Warriors’ Strike Structure Deck

Warriors’ Strike is a ready-to-play Structure Deck combining Warriors, Equip Cards, and Gemini Monsters. Warriors’ Strike has everything a Duelist will need including Deck, rulebook, deluxe game mat, and Dueling Guide with instructions on how to enhance the Deck.

Structure Decks are perfect for Duelists who know the basic rules, but are looking for a launching point for a competitive Deck for tournament use. Seasoned Duelists will enjoy the 6 new cards in Warriors’ Strike, while casual Duelists will find the cards needed to be more competitive!

Includes the highly-anticipated “Hidden Armory” Spell Card, plus reprints of the “Dark Bribe” and “Burden of the Mighty” promo cards!

Structure Deck Contents:

  • 37 Common Cards
  • 2 Super Rare Cards
  • 1 Ultra Rare Card
  • 1 Rulebook
  • 1 Deluxe Game Mat
  • 1 Dueling Guide

Ok now I decided I wanted to add this onto the list of things in upcoming releases cause I wanted to talk about it. As you can see we already have some amazing reprints confirmed as well as a very high in demand card from Japan. "Arms Hole" or "Hidden Armory" is quite the amazing spell card that we needed a long time ago.

Hidden Armory
Normal Spell Card
Send a card from the top of your Deck to the Graveyard. Select 1 Equip Spell Card from your Deck or Graveyard and add it to your hand. You cannot Normal Summon or Set this turn.

There were many decks focused on using this in some way. The two most popular ways to use it was with the last Explosion OTK deck using Kuraz, Premature Burial and D.D.R - Different Dimension Reincarnation and then there was the Brionac loop with Premature Burial and Rescue Cat where you would use Hidden Armory to search for Premature, use Rescue Cat to get out Airbellum with something else, Synchro into Brionac and use Premature, get Cat, use Brionac to return Premature to your hand, use Cat to Synchro again, and im sure you can see how it works. Brionac is also an upcoming card to be released in Hidden Arsenal which is a set based on the Duel Terminal cards. Since I dont have much knowledge of Japans Duel Terminal sets, I wont cover Hidden Arsenal in this blog. But you see how Hidden Armory is good and how people will be looking forward to it. There are other various cards in here that we have yet to have confirmation on but we may see future common versions of the following: Card Trooper, Exodius the Ultimate Forbidden Lord, Mind Control, Spell Striker and Silent Doom.

I figured covering at least some of the upcoming releases would be a good long blog or whatever to do, and this is pretty long if you asked me. I hope you enjoy the read and hope you keep coming back for more. =)
